Catch Up!

Time slips by me WAY too fast! I can't keep up with everything, so here is a post to catch up on everything for the past month... Taylor's birthday was the 14th of May and she didn't really have a birthday party or anything. She's too old, right? 14 years old already! I love her and am so proud she is MY daughter... How did I get such a great kid?!? School got out on May 22. I was able to take pictures of Dylan and Ashley with their teachers. Ashley had Mary Ann Morris for 2nd grade and Dylan had Jeanne Payne for 5th grade. Taylor now moves to high school this coming August, Dylan will go to Cedar Middle and Ashley will stay at South Elementary. A kid at each school, for the next three years... Ashley finally started her softball. She is on Marcia Swallow Evans' husband's team. She seems to really like it even though I had to force her to play :) She even hits the ball! We are proud of all three of our kids and the great athletes they are becoming. The kids and I went to Flowell two weekends ago and they got a taste of the "farm life"... They pulled weeds for Grandpa Paul and earned a little money. They actually had fun... (I used to really hate it). This is the truck loaded with a bunch of the weeds they pulled. There were more to be pulled too.
The little girls didn't help too much :) Taylor took her friend Madison Alger with us and she had a blast. It's really different growing up in a town like Cedar and going to Flowell to visit. I'm glad they enjoy the farm and my side of the family. We get to spend time at the lake with the Davis side, mostly Greg's brother Matt and his family. We went to Sand Hollow this past Wednesday and had a great time. We also took along our friends the Seegmiller's. This was their first time going with us and they said they had a blast. (I only got pictures of the kids). They found a crawfish and thought that was pretty cool... They made a "pond" for it. Taylor brought Jordan Larson and Dylan brought Carter Hinton along... They all had a great time playing in the sand, knee boarding and keeping warm in the sun.
Next, we went to the Summer Games Opening Ceremonies and saw Fillipe and Sione, for those that watched "Biggest Loser" this past season. The fireworks show is awesome!!
The Jazz Bear, David Osmond and Imagine (A Beatles Tribute band) were also performing. It was pretty fun! I could sing all the Beatles songs, that's thanks to my mom's tape when I was a kid :)

Softball AND Baseball

Softball and baseball now fill our evenings. Taylor and Dylan have been playing for a few weeks now and Ashley starts after Memorial Day with her first year of playing. We really enjoy watching the kids play and see their progress. Taylor and Dylan both have the opportunity to pitch and do a great job at it.

My Baby is Eight!

I can't believe that my baby girl is eight years old! Ashley's birthday was Saturday and we took on a birthday party with her friends, a luncheon for family and then her baptism that evening. WHAT A DAY! We had a lot of family come and appreciate all of them that made the effort to come and show their support for Ashley on this BIG day! She had so much fun!

Basketball Champs!

This weekend, Taylor had a border league basketball tournament in Richfield. (Greg helps coach, in case you didn't know). We played Friday night against Bryce Valley and squeaked a win by. Saturday at noon, we played Delta and lost by 6 or 7 points. We were pretty discouraged, but thought maybe they could come back from the losers bracket and make it to the championship. In order to win, they would have to beat the final team twice due to the double elimination. We were very impressed by how good the teams at this tournament were. They were tough! Anyway, we played Emery and beat them in a very close game, then Beaver by 10 or so points. We then had to play Delta again and beat them by about 3 points. That meant we were going to the championship game to play Richfield (undefeated in the tournament). We played them at 8 p.m. and beat them in the first game by 2 or 3 points and then would have to beat them again in order to win the championship. Well, guess what? We did it! It came down to a tie with less than a minute to go, we stole the ball and made a layup to win the game! It was soooo exciting. We were screaming and crying with joy! It was made sweeter by the fact that the officials were from Richfield and we were playing Richfield, in Richfield. We overcame the odds and conquered! We were so proud of all the girls. Everyone on the team contributed! Taylor played awesome and made all her foul shots and made some other great shots. Her defensive play was amazing as well.

Wonderfully WICKED!!!!!

I had the opportunity this past weekend to go to the Broadway play of "Wicked" at the Capital Theatre in SLC! It was sooooo wonderful! I have been listening to the soundtrack ever since. The music was incredible and the story was just as great! I would go to it again tomorrow, if I had the chance. It was fun to go with my sisters, mom, brother and brother-in-law. (Thanks Mandy for getting us the tickets at such an awesome price :))

WOW! Easter.... already?!?!

I can't believe Easter has come and gone! Where has the time gone?!? We went to Flowell for Easter weekend. I was off work Thursday and Friday, so we made the most of it. The kids colored eggs at my mom's house with all the cousins. We were supposed to go to the sand dunes, but we decided not to go due to the wind and light rain.

We went to the hot pots later that evening. The wind actually stopped! It was really cool to swim in the WARM water! The kids were thrilled! That was my first time getting into the water--even though I have been there a couple of times over the years. I was always too scared before. (Lots of ledges down deep).

Cortney's family and Mandy went with us. Cortney and Mandy were the only ones that didn't get in all the way. It was a lot of fun... we wish we could have stayed longer, but it got too dark. That will definately be something we do again. :) (FYI... they are located between Meadow and Kanosh).
